My Song, "Fight On", and the story behind it

Have you ever had the feeling that something was too far out of your reach?

That's how I felt when Paul Westphal, or Westy as we call him, family friend and surrogate grandfather to me, was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive and progressive form of brain cancer. It was 4th stage. Beyond curable. That happened in late August of 2020.

We could only pray for a miracle.

We still only pray for a miracle.

They live far from us, and for two or three months, we couldn't find a way to see them. It was beyond my control. What with COVID, their busyness, and ours, it took a while to find a time to get out there.

In the meanwhile, I was working on a song to record and send to him, for encouragement. And it resulted in "Fight On".

I love you, Westy, and am praying for you.
